My name is Travon Hobbs, MBA, WMCP®. I've spent ten years in banking and wealth management, and I was raised in BookerTown, southside of Greenville, Mississippi, the heart of the Delta.

I'm a financial advisor raised in Black institutions and communities, and I now run an advice-only, flat-fee practice, Beat The Pressure Advisors (BTP Advisors).

Where I come from

I grew up around hustlers and gangs. The people society calls criminals, I called cousin and uncle, and I don't regret the family and community that raised me. My mama didn't want me thuggin'. My daddy didn't want me gambling or selling dope. If anybody deserves blame, it's me. I've hurt people, verbally, physically and emotionally, always the ones closest to me. I own that. With age came wisdom: I'm a father, son, grandson, nephew, cousin, brother, lifelong learner and avid reader.

Why advice-only

I have turned down so many people looking for help with their money. In this industry they have high AUM requirement. I never want turndown people again because they don’t have a million dollars.

My career

I started in banking, moved through brokerage, and then into wealth management, including time on a JPMorgan Chase team that managed over $1 billion in client assets. Today I help individuals build a solid foundation and get a second opinion on their investments, for a flat fee paid after the work is delivered.
